CITY OF POWELL RIVER NOTICE Business Licence Bylaw 2226, 2010 Amendments for Short-Term Rental Regulation and Street Vending The City of Powell River Business Licence Bylaw 2226, 2010 regulates commercial activities in the City. The bylaw requires that anyone who conducts business from a location in the City and advertises themselves publicly is to hold a business licence. Conditions of licence can include public health, safety, and security at the business location; hours of operation; payment of fees; and proof of insurance, among other requirements. Schedule A: Business Licence Fees sets out annual business licence fees depending on the nature of the business. Notice is hereby given under Section 59 of the Community Charter of Council's intention to consider adoption of City of Powell River Business Licence Bylaw 2226, 2010 Amendment Bylaw 2538, 2018 and Amendment Bylaw 2554, 2019 at the Council meeting scheduled for April 4, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall. City of Powell River Business Licence Bylaw 2226, 2010 Amendment Bylaw 2538, 2018 will establish requirements for short-term rentals within the City of Powell River. Requirements include but are not limited to: - Obtaining a business licence with the City; - Health and safety inspections; and - Supplying a local contact name. Please note : Amendment Bylaw 2538, 2018 does not include a cap for short-term rental business licences. The Amendment Bylaw will include a 10 business licence cap for vacation rental homes. City of Powell River Business Licence Bylaw 2226, 2010 Amendment Bylaw 2554, 2019 will perform housekeeping amendments to improve the administration of street vending-related activities and ensure all street vending regulations are consistent with and refer to City of Powell River Street Vending Bylaw 2536, 2018. Copies of the proposed draft bylaw amendments and accompanying staff reports may be examined at City Hall, located at 6910 Duncan Street, Powell River, BC, between the office hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, up to and including April 4, 2019.
